Mid Lancs XC report

Mid Lancs XC success

For those who don’t know, we have a senior runner who is doing quite well competing in the Mid Lancs Cross Country series of races.

So, let me introduce you to Chris Steel of Cockermouth. Chris is a 1st claim runner for Borrowdale Fellrunners when running fell races. When he is not wearing his Borrowdale vest you may see him wearing Inov8 colours, as he is sponsored by the shoe company who’s shoes are becoming a favourite choice for many fell runners.

However, here you see him in his Ellenborough AC vest, as he runs 1st claim for Elbra in all disciplines other than fell races.Chris Steel

The mid Lancs cross country series is a well established series of XC races held predominantly at venues in Lancashire, though they have been known to venture into cumbria on occasion. The 2014/15 series comprises 6 races of which, at the time of writing, five races have been run with one to go. Chris has run in four of the five races coming in 1st at Townley Park, Burnley, two 2nd places at Hyndburg in October and at Blackpool on Feb 14th and a 3rd place at Sefton Park, Liverpool last November. Another Cumbrian club runner, James Douglas of Border Harriers, many of you will have heard of him, is also doing well. If I am correct, James also has a 1st, two 2nd and a 3rd in the series. Now, having contacted Chris, I am told that neither runner will be contesting the final cross country race at Lancaster, both choosing to attend different races. This means that on countback James is the winner and Chris is given second place. In any case, I think congratulations are in order as second place on countback in the Mid Lancs Cross Country league is no mean feat.
